UK Primary Knowledge Curriculum

Primary Knowledge Curriculum

The Knowledge Schools Trust aims to provide children with a classical liberal education, regardless of background or ability. The aim of such an education is not primarily to prepare pupils for a job or career. It is to transform their minds so that they can make reasonable and informed judgments and engage fruitfully in conversation and debate – not just about contemporary issues, but also about the universal questions that have been troubling humankind throughout history.

We want children to leave our schools with the confidence that comes from possessing a store of essential knowledge and the skills to use it. We believe that independence of mind, not compliance with socio-economic expectations, is the goal of a good education.

Through the development of the Primary Knowledge Curriculum, the Knowledge Schools Trust aims to help promote and support the development of schools and trusts who share the same vision.

Since 2013, the primary schools in the Knowledge Schools Trust have been developing and enacting a knowledge-rich curriculum, based on the Core Knowledge materials published by Civitas UK. The Trust funds ongoing curriculum work led by education experts and subject specialists to develop and share the best knowledge-rich materials and professional development with schools across the country.
